Travel ain't glamorous

I had originally taken a picture of myself to insert under the above caption, but after the first 15 hours of travel, I was long past 'ain't glamorous' and I have to keep some self respect. Instead, this is a photo looking into my office window here in the South of France.

Briefly I'll report that I made safe and sound in Monaco. The flights, while long, were not that bad. The $130 cab ride from the Nice airport to the hotel in Monaco was along the lines of
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland, but that made the 45 minute trip interesting.

Note to anyone flying: Of all the things not to carry in your carry on luggage, KY Jelly should be at the top of the list.

I'm sure you're asking why would I even mention this? Wellll, I mention it because some poor idiot in line ahead of me at security, did just that and had to pull it, and other 'personal' liquids from her bag, place them on the security table to be scrutinized and then very publicly thrown away basketball style....swoosh. All net.

Other people, I had noticed, decided to get rid of their contraband items before having them taken from them. These such items were left scattered on the floor of the zig-zagging security line where people like me noticed them while bending over to untie my shoes and pull my computer out of my backpack. These were things like: lotion tubes, full shampoo bottles, shaving gel, perfume, hairspray, contact lens solution, etc...

I myself was traveling with chapstick, lipgloss, eyedrops, matches and hand lotion. A simple, "No, I don't have any liquids" seemed to be the password to get through all this new security. My bag made it through x-ray without being stopped for the illegals.

Of course, another method I should have tried would have been to simply put all banned items in my pockets and walk through the metal detectors as the screeners were all so busy worrying about this girl's sexual lubricant that it didn't seem to matter if I walked through with a water bottle stuffed down my pants.

Ah. Travel.

The view out my office window makes it worth it...

No one stopped me on the way out of Dulles to FL. But on the way home, the baby bottle was emptied, the kids medications were noted (I refused to allow them to toss the Epi pen!) and they asked me about 700 times if I had milk. I was assuming they ment in a bottle and not where I actually have milk...the answer was no and away we went!
